Boys aren't very good

that I must say
though I don't mean mischievous
or they love to play
I mean that the fall
they neglect to learn
too even crawl
and yet wholeheartedly believe
they can walk,
for they are brave
but that does not mean they are good
or any less naive.
For the very fact a boy
is so brave
just means they aren't very good
at being afraid.
As child
this doesn't matter
the word brave
is meant to flatter,
but as man
on day they must learn
that is fear
something that is earned
it can't be avoided
with platitudes and flattery
it builds in every moment
that you recognize to be happy
that you recognize
that for someone you've begun to care
and that for bravery and boldness
one day they can disappear.
But a boy isn't very good at caring
no one has taught him how to love
his father holds it as a treasured secret
not something meant to spoken of,
so the boy moves on in life
too afraid to care
but too brave to be afraid
and a tad worse for wear
from these burdens he must bear
but boys still aren't very good,
For even after this boy learns to care
And treasures those he fears for
he forgets to speak
to show those he adores
they matter.
Boy aren't very good at words
they are told actions speaker louder
when only a few are actually heard
however please don't ever misunderstand,
while boys aren't very good at being afraid
the fear they do hold
rings true of a love that won't fade,
while boys aren't very good at showing they care
the care they do show
is something precious
meant for you and you alone,
and while boys aren't very good at words
they say as much at they can
and pray that they are heard.
So while boys aren't very good
they are so very true
in the ways
they may one day love you.
